The Ethical Challenges Self Driving Cars Will Face Everyday

  • Eye contact- anyone who has ever spent time in a major city knows that close between drivers and pedestrians are simply part of life
  • Judgement calls- sometimes drivers have to make instant decisions when they are faced with obstacles on the road
  • Legal Responsibility- a car that technically functions perfectly according to road laws and mechanical performance could still perform an operation that causes negative results

Same Words Different People

The two words that were discussed today were tone and individualism. At first I thought individualism was being alone without the help of anyone, but after our class discussion I understood that it means to be independent and start to become more into an adult.

Ancient Rhetoric In Modern Times

In my opinion, I think ethos, pathos, logos, and kairos make up the arguments in the article more effective and efficient because they explain the main idea so that the audience can grasp the message and comprehend it as well.

Anatomy Of A Persuasive Argument

A persuasive argument is the one making readers agree with your opinion. You can't just make a claim; you should offer a series of statements with evidence to support it. Only the claims with evidence are worth using in your argumentative essay.

Rhetorical Strategies Part II

  • Ethos:
    • The author, Johannes is a philosopher who works with engineers in "Stanford's Center for Automotive Research (Self- Driving Cars Article)."
    • Diana Divecha- credible because she has   a Ph. D psychology and she's an assignment clinical professor at Yale child Study Center and Yale Center for emotional. Intelligence which makes her credible to talk about bullying.
  • Pathos:
    • Diana Divecha- "school with a positive climate faster healthy development, while negative school climate is associated with higher rates of student bullying, aggression, victimization, and feeling unsafe."
    • Diana Divecha- "A majority of teachers repost that they feel unprepared to deal with classroom bullying."
    • Diana Divecha- "Do leaders understand that uninterrupted severe bullying can confer life long native consequences of targets of bullies, bullies, and witness."
  • Logos:
    • A Study of 36- first graders showed that when teachers were made emotionally supportive of students children were less aggressive and had greater behavioral self-control, compared to the use of behavioral management, which did not improve student self- control.
  • Kairos:
    • "So a school's specific issues can be addressed, and the flavor of local cultures retained. Schools climate assessments can be completed periodically to track the impact of improvements."
All of these terms can be used in an argument against parents to get what you want by providing them with facts and evidence. In fact, as soon as your parents realize that you're right they won't be able to disagree with you. If only you have reasonable facts/ evidence.

On Self Reliance Part 2

  • Emerson talks about how teens are non-caring
    • Good and mistaken
  • Teens don't care about what you want them to care about
  • Oracles tell the truth
  • Adults have to comprise to babies when they're in the same room
  • When Emerson says all people are rude is because they're actually being themselves without caring what other people think
  • Society= conspiracy

First Impression of "On Self- Reliance"

  • Our acts our angels are, good or ill."
  • It's the belief in you that's worth on celebrating
    • It's the belief that is also genius
  • Toil- means work
  • The only champion and captain is you
  • Eminent- a respected person; the master
  • Admonition- a warming; lecture
  • Something about us and about life that goes deeper in thought
I do believe that who you want to become is based on your personal and mental self. No other person is going to work and reach the goals that you want to accomplish other than you. We have to be true to ourselves and not phrase others.
