Hawthorne And Poe On Dreams

Hawthorne indicated himself at the beginning as a man of intellectual sentiment. Poe as a man of intellectual passion. The distinction to be made between the effect of the literary expression of the two minds is, that Hawthorne charms, and Poe enchains the reader.

First Impression Of A Dream

My first impressions of reading the poem "Dream Within A Dream" was a bit confusing for me to comprehended due to the author's choice of writing. I took me a while to re-read the poem and finally I understood what he was trying to say throughout the poem. All dreams have different meanings and bring mixed up emotions that sometimes we can't explain in words on how we felt or the events that occurred throughout the dream. Having to understand each phrase truly explains how a dream is like the amount of time a dream is, questions on why this event, after emotions when you wake up, etc.

First Impression Of A Dream

My initial impression of Langston Hughes' poetry has left me with an aw. He is very blunt and to the point. I appreciate it very much. His words are powerful and leave an imprint with an abrasive feel. He takes a stand and picks a side. He is revolutionary in the way he fights for a voice to be recognized. He knows how to set the mood with his poetic wording and structure.
